PROGRAMME CONTENT
The programme consists of four theme-based semesters during which students are mentored to develop direction, intellectual imagination and independence in expression. The first three semesters are devoted to studio practice supported by inputs from the following intersecting areas:
• Building Analytical-Critical Abilities
Students are introduced to key concepts in aesthetics, semiotics, history, anthropology, philosophy and ethics to explore a variety of frameworks to analyze and critique contemporary society
• Skill competence in different media
While students come with basic skill competence in the visual arts, workshop facilities will be offered to hone existing skills and provide opportunities to acquire new tools, particularly in areas such as digital media.
• Understanding contemporary cultural contexts
Students are introduced to research methods drawn from the social sciences, media studies, economics and the natural sciences.
The fourth and final semester is devoted to a self-directed project which will be mentored and have two significant outputs – a dissertation and a visual presentation.
